The Gym
I have started going to the gym and lifting seriously, and I am happy to say that I absolutely love it. I look forward to it on my off days, and am excited to wake up and go to the gym on my on days! I wish I could do it very day, but you need your rest days to recuperate and for your muscles to repair themselves (resulting in increased strength, or mass, depending on which you are training for).

It goes like this:
1. Endurance = 15 or more reps per set
2. Mass (big muscles) = 8-12 reps per set
3. Strength = 6 or fewer reps per set

Starting Strength
For a gym program, I was doing a basic Starting Strength Program.
More about this program can be found: HERE

The basics are 5 different lifts:
1. The Squat
2. The Deadlift
3. The Benchpress
4. The Press
5. The Power Clean

I have since decided that the Power Clean is too dangerous for me to be doing without someone to form check me, so I have replaced the Power clean with the:

6. The Bent Over Row

Leangains

I have been reading about Leangains for a few months thanks to Reddits Fittit. And have read a fair bit of Martin Berkhans blog, Leangains, which has great reading about everything from cheesecake, to health advice, to workout tips, and most importantly, the Leangains idea!

I have decided to start the 100 pushups program as detailed here: http://hundredpushups.com/

I would like to finish the program by christmas (aka, be able to do 100 pushups by christmas!), which gives me almost 2 months (supposed to take 6 weeks).
I am going to post my workout every time I do one, and will also post periodical picture-updates of my progress (to track weight-gain during the program).
I´m starting day one tomorrow (24/10/11).

My flught departed from vancouver international Airport at 11:50 AM on monday morning, bound for incheon international (Seoul, Korea). It was a 12 hour flight, and the only thing of note that happened was a medical emergency. They announced over the com that they needed a Doctor to report to one of the staff on the airplane, and it just so happened that there was a doctor sitting behind me! I didn’t find out what happened, but it mustn’t have been too serious.
I slept for a few hours to try and adapt to japan-time, and then watched movies/TV until I got to Korea! Incheon international is an amazing airport, very well organized and clean ( and even had its own tram system). I bought a nice belt (rhodes) and was given candy by a little (5 years or so) korean girl! ( She spoke pretty good english as well). Everyone was very nice and I had no problems finding my way around the airports.
When I got to japan(Hiroshima), it was a quick process to get though customs and grab my backpack. Aidan met me in the Arrivals area and we took a bus to our Hostel right near Peace Park. I had a shower and passed out for 11 hours.

This morning we got up and went to a local food joint and I had Rice, pickled salad, miso soup, and some salmon for breakfast (normal breakfast here apparently), and it was all delicious!!
We walked to a post office so I could get some cash (Yen!!!) And then walked along the. Culture Pavilion towards peace park (along a river).
We just finished our tour through the museum and learning all about the atomic bomb and the destruction brought about by it. (Very sad :( ).
We will continue to explore peace park ( even though its raining).
Japan is an amazing place so far!

At this moment, I am sitting in the vancouver airport, enjoying their free WiFi, and wishing my plane would get here sooner!!!!
With only one hour before I depart to Japan (via Korea) I am a little nervous, but Mega-excited!
My journey today will take (around) 26 hours. I will arrive in Hiroshima at 8:05 PM (local time) on the 23rd.

Well, that’s all for now! Next time I find some WiFi, I will update!
